Microfinish Celebrates 60 Years of Customer Success
Microfinish is a metal finishing company in the St. Louis, Missouri area. The company was founded in 1959 by Stanley Smith, who started the business out of his basement. It has expanded multiple times and was purchased by Bill and Karen Stock in 2001, growing to its current size and service offering today.
Growing Capabilities & More
In the 60 years since its inception, Microfinish has expanded its capabilities and locations, moving out of Stanley Smith’s basement and into four facilities that total 250,000 feet of space. The company also has grown to 80 employees.
Microfinish has a metal finishing division and corporate office in Sunset Hills, Missouri, a zinc plating division in Berkeley, Missouri, a powder coating division in Warrenton, Missouri, and a nickel, chrome and e-coating division in St. Louis, Missouri. Microfinish started by offering tumbled stamping to remove burrs and to smooth the surface of parts to improve the micro-finish of parts. It’s actually thanks to this process that the company name came about!
The company expanded its services with St Louis powder coating in 1996, then into mechanical finishing through the purchase of C & A Metal Finishing in 2005, and in 2009 Microfinish began offering nickel chrome plating and e-coating. Complementing these services, Microfinsh can deburr, clean, glass bead and burnish parts at an exceptional level of quality, and we can zinc plate large pieces of metal.
